I have been asked to reflect a lot lately, and so for my first reflection, I want to reflect on frequent reflecting. Firstly, I am sorry that was a mouthful. Secondly, I am thrilled that having a diary is cool again. I had a diary or journal in my pre-teen years and I would spend hours reflecting on my day before going to sleep. This is no longer a staple of my day-to-day activities, but I am thinking it should be. I remember feeling like I didn’t have to fret once I was in bed because I already let it all out in my diary. Previously I did not spend time reflecting after classes. This semester, after every math class we reflect on what we learned, what we didn’t agree with, what we want to remember, and any questions we have. I imagine the benefits of spending positive time in one’s thoughts are incredible.

I love this reflection Ashley! Reflecting on the benefits of reflecting really brings the purpose of the activity to the forefront. I never kept a steady journal or diary when I was young, but am also thinking how benefial it would be in my life now.

I love this! Journaling has been a part of my life for years. There are days when I crave it, finding solace in the blank pages, other times fearing it for the truth it could reveal. All in all reflection is a powerful thing.

I love the idea of journaling, but I have never found it to be something that I can consistently keep up. However, when I am stressed, upset, or nervous about something, I always find that reflecting on it and getting all my thoughts in one place is so helpful. I’ve found myself using this method significantly more since the pandemic hit. I hope it shows to have the same positive and healing properties for you as it does for me!
