I have been exploring digital art for a little while now (as if I needed more screen time). But, I actually really like it. However after the last project I did, I just stopped.
Here is the last project that I completed. I made it after procrastinating making it for far too long. I think if it had not been for a school deadline this might not have been finished. I want to reflect on making this piece of digital art in hopes that it inspires me to pick back up the digital pen because I really love the way this came out. It took persevering though many hours of not liking it even a little bit before I got somewhere I didn’t mind. In my personal time, I don’t often push past those uncomfortable, ‘ugly’ stages of art leaving me frustrated and defeated.
I am thankful that I pushed past those uncomfortable moments. This is Gatherings: memories of family, friends, and campfires. A poem picture book in one page.
On cold quiet nights
Ashen spark sprites
Ignite the sky with their flickers
Twigs and branches
Kindle flame dances
So mesmerizing in their vigor
If forever I could stay
In the nostalgia of this day
I would do so
at the flicker
of a light.

I don’t really have any knowledge of the process of digital art-making, but I love how this product turned out! Also, I understand what you mean by getting stuck in the “ugly stages” of the creation process!
